The Introduction to Dance class gives students a brief taste of six different styles of dance through the course of the year. Students learn vocabulary, a brief history, as well as the movement of the dance form. Each six-week unit immerses students in the style of the dance form, and the unit culminates with a short dance in that style.
The course covers ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern, and improvisation/choreography. The emphasis of the class is on personal improvement, and students from beginners to advanced are welcome to join the class which is designed to challenge students based on his or her individual level.
